The UK government has introduced various restrictions relating to COVID-19 for those travelling to and from the UK.

Fit2FlyTest is a government registered provider of PCR tests that can be used by travellers on day 2 & day 8 of quarantine – which is required when you return to the UK from abroad.

Testing on day two and day eight for international arrivals into the UK is a measure that has been put in place by the UK government in an effort to prevent COVID-19 infections from spreading.

All passengers arriving into the UK must self-isolate for ten days (unless exempt). If you are returning to the UK from abroad, then you must take a PCR test before or on day 2 of your mandatory self-isolation period.  You must then take another test on day 8 of the self-isolation period.

Does the testing on day 2 and day 8 requirements change if I am travelling back from a ‘red’ country?

If you are returning to the UK from a country that is on the government’s “red list” then you must self-isolate in a government-approved hotel for the full 10 days.

If the country you are returning from is not on the ‘red list’ then you should still follow the protocols for testing on day 2 and day 8, but the good news is you can quarantine at home and potentially shorten your quarantine period with the use of our Test to Release PCR Test.  This test is taken on day 5 and will allow you to legally stop isolating once you have received your result – as long as this result is negative.

What details need to be entered on the Passenger Locator Form?

When you order your day 2 and day 8 tests, you will receive a unique Test Reference Number, which must be entered onto your Passenger Locator Form before you enter the UK.

This means that you need to have ordered your day 2 & day 8 tests before you arrive back in the UK. You can order the tests whenever you like, and we will send them to you by post on the day you require it.

What do my test results mean?

If you test negative on your day 2 and day 8 test you must still continue to isolate for the full 10 days, in accordance with current government guidelines. However, you can potentially shorten your quarantine period by taking our Test to Release test – as long as the country you are returning from is not on the red list.

If you test positive on your day 2 test and/or your day 8 test, then you must continue to self-isolate for 10 days from the day you receive the test result.
